The Malaysians who are the first members of the MoH staff to join the Phase I Unit in Ampang Hospital, Kuala Lumpur spent just over three weeks in Plymouth shadowing the two study coordinators and the staff physicians and observing in detail how a study is set up and run. The training was provided by various members of the Veeda UK staff.
Earlier this year Veeda Clinical Research and the Malaysian Ministry of Health had announced the opening of Veeda’s office in South East Asia and a collaborative agreement with the Malaysian Ministry of Health to open a Phase I and Early Clinical Development Unit in the Ampang Hospital in Kuala Lumpur. At the occasion Dr Maurice Cross, Group Medical Director of Veeda observed that the opening of the Ampang Unit will provide not only a facility for the Global Pharmaceutical Industry but will also be a major contributor to the training of a cadre of Malaysians capable of performing this type of work.
Training has always been at the forefront for Veeda and this is part of our cross pollination programme wherein we send groups of our people from our units in the east to our units in the west for on-the-job training. This also greatly helps to homogenize the culture of the organization, said Binoy Gardi, Co-Group Managing Director and Co-Founder, Veeda.
